What Are Coconut Roughs? Chocolate, Coconut and a Proper Chewy Bite

Coconut Roughs are chocolate treats made with coconut mixed through the chocolate, giving each piece an uneven surface and a chewy bite. At Choc’d Full, we use toasted coconut and make our Roughs by hand in small batches in Australia. Our Coconut Roughs come in a 150g pack.

If you like your chocolate with plenty of coconut, this is a good place to start. The coconut is part of every bite, rather than a separate filling tucked inside a chocolate shell.

What do Coconut Roughs taste like?

Our Roughs pair the flavour of toasted coconut with smooth chocolate. The coconut brings chew and texture, while the chocolate holds everything together. That combination gives them their familiar rugged look.

They’re a different sort of bite from a chocolate disc or a marshmallow-filled Rocky Road. Choose Roughs when it’s the coconut you’re craving, whether you’re opening a bag with an afternoon cuppa or putting a few pieces on a plate to share.

What’s in Choc’d Full Coconut Roughs?

Chocolate and coconut are the main ingredients described on our product page. For the full ingredient list, check the pack. The current allergen information states: contains milk and soy; may contain tree nuts and peanuts.

That information matters when you’re buying for someone else. A love of coconut doesn’t tell you whether a person can eat dairy, soy or products carrying a nut warning. Check their requirements before choosing a treat, and read the label on the pack you receive.

Are Coconut Roughs gluten-free?

Choc’d Full Coconut Roughs are gluten-free and are the only gluten-free product in our current range. This answer applies to our product. Coconut Roughs made by other brands or from a different recipe can have different ingredients.

Gluten-free does not mean dairy-free, vegan or nut-free. Our Coconut Roughs contain dairy, and we have no vegan options. The milk, soy and possible nut allergens still need to be considered.

Which chocolate treat should you choose?

Those other treats have different ingredients and are not gluten-free. Dark Rocky Road also contains dairy. If you’re choosing a mixed bundle, check every included product rather than applying the Coconut Roughs dietary information to the whole pack.

Keeping your Coconut Roughs for later

Keep chocolate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, and follow the storage guidance on the pack. If you’re serving a few pieces, put the rest away promptly instead of leaving the bag beside a sunny window.

Use the best-before date printed on your pack. We aim to dispatch products with at least three months remaining before that date. That is our aim at dispatch, rather than a fixed shelf life starting when your order arrives.

Ordering Coconut Roughs in Australia

You can order our 150g Coconut Roughs online. We aim to post standard orders on the next business day before 4 pm, allowing up to two business days for dispatch. The 4 pm posting aim is not a customer order cutoff. We do not dispatch on weekends. Australia Post delivery generally takes 3–5 days after dispatch, so allow for both stages if you’re buying for an occasion.

Orders of $80 or more qualify for free standard Australia Post shipping to locations served by its domestic network. Check checkout for the available delivery options and charges. Our FAQs cover more questions about orders, ingredients and delivery.
